Launchpad: Science & Innovation for Young Thinkers (Years 5 and up)

Launchpad is designed for curious minds ready to take their STEAM learning further. In this series, students work more independently, record observations, and begin thinking like young scientists and engineers. Each term explores a different branch of science or technology through hands-on investigations, creative challenges, and project-based learning experiences.

Term 1 – Chemistry:
Students use the tiny science lab high school chemistry kits to explore chemistry safely and independently. They’ll learn about mixtures and compounds, the states of matter, separation techniques, and the molecular world—building strong foundations in scientific inquiry and data recording.
Students may bring their own tiny science lab high school chemistry kit and consumables to class or share one of ours (two students per kit).

Term 2 – Biology:
From cells to ecosystems, students dive into the living world. Topics include classification of living things, body systems, cell structure and function, and life cycles. They’ll use microscopes, models, and field observations to understand how life works and how all living things are connected.

Term 3 – Makerspace: Design, Create, and Innovate:
A hands-on term where creativity meets entrepreneurship! Students learn to design and make products using Cricut cutting machines and other maker tools. They’ll explore digital design, production, and simple business concepts—creating items they can gift, display, or even sell. (Students may bring their own Cricut machine or use one provided.)

Term 4 – Project-Based Environmental Science:
In this inquiry-driven term, students become environmental scientists and problem solvers. Working in teams, they’ll research a local or global environmental issue—such as plastic pollution, renewable energy, water conservation, or habitat loss—and design practical, science-based solutions. Through guided investigation, experimentation, and reflection, students learn how science and innovation can make a real-world impact.
